About Us

Dark Corner Cattle is located in the northeastern corner of Greenville County South Carolina near Glassy Mountain. Since the early 1800's this area has been known as the "Dark Corner" because of its mountainous terrain, hill and hollows and a place of secrecy.

In 1993, my wife and I built a home and began planting roots in this small town called Gowensville, where everyone looks out for each other and every neighbor is a friend. We have been blessed with two children and one granddaughter and are active members of Gowensville Baptist Church.

Dark Corner Cattle is committed to producing high quality, sound, registered angus cattle. Our primary breeding is A.I. (Artificial Insemination) using some of today's top angus sires through Select Sires and ABS Global witch gives us a strong advantage in our offsprings. Tissue samples are collected from every calf at birth for DNA testing. These samples are sent for AGI-generated genomic testing. This process is known as Genomic Enhanced EPS's (GE-EPD's). Additional measurements such as weight, height, etc. are taken as the calves continue to grow. This information maximizes the accuracy of the EPD results. This information is used to assist in our breeding process. We focus heavily on Maternal, however, Carcass balance is essential. Strong Maternal genetics allow for healthier and more reproductive cattle.

Dark Corner Cattle offers Bulls, Breed Cows and replacement Heifers year-round. We operate our business with honesty and integrity developing repeat business for years to come.

Genetics

  • There's little room for error in the cattle busniness. Producers need the most advanced informationto make smart selection dicisions, and Angus Genetics Inc. (AGI) provides it through genomic-enhanced expected progeny differences (GE-EPDs).
  • GE-EPDs have become the industry standard for Herd improvement, building on decades on science-backed genetic evaluation tools originated and maintained through the American Angus Association, home of the largest and ever-growing single-breed beef cattle database.
  • EPDs that traditionally contained all pedigree, performance and progeny information now also include results from available genomic, or DNA, test. We use genomic technology to give buyers access to AGI-generated GE-EPDs.
